Wigan Business Expo 17 will take place at Robin Park Sports and Tennis Centre between 09:30 and 14:30 on Friday 6 Oct 2017. It is described as "one of the largest business expos in the North West" and it attracted over 1,000 visitors from across the UK last year.
One of the exhibitors will be the Intellectual Property Office. It is often said that IP is only is only for the big multinational companies and major research universities but it is just as important for small businesses to protect and mark money from their investments in branding, design, technology and creativity. If you go to Wigan Expo you could make a start by visiting the IPO's stand. You can pick up leaflets about every aspect of each type of intellectual property right.
If you want to find out more about IP, you could visit the Business and IP Centre in Liverpool or Manchester. They have far more resources online and in print. They host regular patent clinics for the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys as well as talks and workshops on such matters as business planning and using social media.
There are also inventors' clubs in Manchester and Blackburn where you can attend talks and share information and experiences with other entrepreneurs and inventors.
