About

I am a barrister practising intellectual property, technology and related areas of the law from 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square in London. For most of my career, I have practised in the North of England. I opened the first and so far only specialist intellectual property chambers outside London in Manchester in 1997. I specialize in advising startups and other small and medium enterprises on how to protect and make money from their investments in branding, creativity, design and technology, drafting and reviewing their contracts and other complex legal instruments and representing them in negotiations and proceedings in the Intellectual Property Office and civil courts. You can find out more about me from my Profile and my Services and Instructing me pages of my NIPC Law blog.

This is one of a number of blogs through which I communicate with my clients and potential users of my services. In this blog, I discuss intellectual property and technology cases, events, news and publications with a particular connection with North West England and my services for businesses, creative individuals, entrepreneurs, inventors, investors, local authorities and enterprise partnerships, private equity and angel investors, universities and others in this region. There are special pages that focus on matters of special interest to the region such as the Northern Powerhouse and the IP Litigation in North West England which I try to update regularly.
